Dr. Stanley Gersch received a BS in Biology from the City College of New York and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Mass. After completing a General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center, NY, he specialized in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at NYU College of Dentistry. Dr. Gersch and his wife, Cindy, reside in Westfield, NJ where they have raised their two adult children, Scott and Shari. In 2005 Scott joined his dad as his partner at Gersch Orthodontics.
A Past-President of the New Jersey Association of Orthodontists, Dr. Gersch has been delivering outstanding orthodontic care to children and adults in the Union County area for over 30 years. Dr. Gersch is a clinical professor in the Post-Graduate Orthodontic Department at NYU College of Dentistry and has been repeatedly named as one of the Top Orthodontists in New Jersey Monthly’s Top Dentist voting and selected as a ‘Top Kid’s Doc’ in NJ Family Magazine. Dr. Gersch continues to research the latest products and advancements in orthodontic care by attending numerous orthodontic educational programs each year.
 
In addition to traditional and clear braces, Dr. Gersch was one of the first orthodontists in the United States to use Invisalign® and he has been nationally recognized for his Invisalign treatment and expertise. One of these distinctions is the Top Case Award presented by Align Technology. Dr. Gersch is Director of Invisalign training at NYU College of Dentistry in the Orthodontic department and lectures on a national and international basis. Honored at the American Association of Orthodontist's Convention for achieving membership in Align Technology's Century Club, he is part of an exclusive group consisting of only the Top 100 Invisalign providers in North America. Dr. Gersch has also consistently been recognized as an Invisalign Premier Provider ELITE, a distinction given to less than 1% of Invisalign certified doctors; less than 60 have been given this honor of over 20,000 certified doctors. In addition, Dr. Stanley Gersch has also been responsible for the Invisalign certification process for all New York and New Jersey graduate orthodontic programs.
Dr. Gersch is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, New Jersey Association of Orthodontists (where he served as President), American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, Union County Dental Society, and is on staff at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. A member of many local charitable organizations such as the Optimist Club, Jaycees and Westfield College Men’s Club, he is actively involved in the community. Dr. Gersch and his team at Gersch Orthodontics strive to provide excellent patient care and the highest quality orthodontics in a personal and comfortable atmosphere.
Dr. Scott D. Gersch is the son of Dr. Stanley Gersch and grew up in Westfield, NJ where he graduated from Westfield High School in 1995. He received his Bachelor’s Degree with honors from the University of Michigan in 1999, and then attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in 2003. Dr. Gersch was on the Dean’s List, served as class president, and received honors including the Award for Excellence from the New Jersey Society for Pediatric Dentistry for his enthusiasm and skill in caring for and treating children.
Dr. Gersch continued his post-graduate studies at New York University College of Dentistry where he completed his residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in July 2005. While at NYU he was the Chief Resident of his orthodontic program, a clinical instructor of Invisalign, radiology and general dentistry, and continued his ongoing research focusing on patients’ aesthetic concerns and quality of life. Dr. Gersch’s commitment to research on improving orthodontic treatment for both children and adults has led him to publish several articles, win numerous research awards and present his findings at national and international meetings. “Our goal is to treat for the right reasons and at the right time, in a great environment.” This philosophy is based on Dr. Gersch’s research and belief that orthodontics changes more than just tooth alignment. It can have a profound impact on a patient’s self esteem and overall psychological well-being. “Straight teeth have the ability to give a person self confidence, and it makes one look and feel better about themselves,” says Dr. Scott Gersch.
Dr. Gersch is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics – the highest honor awarded in the field, by the only specialty licensing board that is recognized by both the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association. Dr. Gersch is also an Invisalign® Premier Provider ELITE and an attending member of the teaching staff at Overlook Hospital.
Dr. Scott Gersch has repeatedly been named a Top Orthodontist in New Jersey Monthly’s Top Dentists voting, and in 2009 he was interviewed and featured in the magazine as New Jersey’s ‘Top Orthodontist.’ He has also continually been selected as one of the ‘Top Kid’s Docs’ by NJ Family Magazine. Dr. Scott Gersch’s use of technology with lasers and Temporary Anchorage Devices (TAD’s) allows him to bring the latest technologies to the constantly evolving art and science of orthodontics. He lectures throughout the local area and often speaks at many local schools and career days.
In addition to his skills in the field of orthodontics, Dr. Scott D. Gersch is an avid sports fan. He played lacrosse at Westfield High School and the University of Michigan, has run the NYC Marathon, and enjoys skiing, playing softball and golfing. In his spare time he and his father enjoy watching Michigan football and cheering on the New York Yankees and New Jersey Devils. Additionally, Dr. Gersch is actively involved in many local and charitable organizations throughout the tri-state area.
Dr. Scott Gersch is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, New Jersey Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association and serves on the New Dentist Committee, Union County Dental Society, Central Dental Society, American Association of Dental Research, International Association of Dental Research and Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity.
